A healthy lifestyle is within reach with a 100% plant-based diet
We all want a healthier lifestyle but our hectic lives often make it seem impossible. Truth is, it is neither hard nor complicated. The trick is to approach it one simple step at a time and before you know it, you will be glowing with health.
Moderate your diet. Slowly.
Diet is the biggest hurdle since we Singaporeans love to eat. You don’t need to change your diet overnight; it is unrealistic and you may end up back where you started. So, start small; perhaps by replacing one unhealthy option with a healthier one. For example, you can replace white rice with wholegrains or quinoa (whichever is less of a hassle). Then gradually change other components of your diet. Switch out soft drinks with non-dairy options like soy. They are way healthier and taste great too.
NutriSoy is a great example. It is 100% plant-based (it is now vegan-friendly!) so you get the most important nutrients your body needs. Yet, you don’t lose out on great taste. Just look at the health benefits:
- Low GI (Glycemic Index) score – Aids in weight loss, lower sugar levels and reduced risk of heart disease
- High in calcium for stronger bones
- Soy protein is a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids that the body does not produce, which must be obtained from your diet
- High in protein to strengthen muscles and repair body tissues, low in saturated fat and free from dietary cholesterol
Complement with exercise
Just like your diet, start small. Any form of activity is better than none. You can start just by walking and work your way up from there. Even if you stay with walking, that is fine too (brisk walking burns more calories than you would imagine!). If you do move on to running, or any other sports, that’s even better. Remember, the aim is to do it consistently. Before you know it, you will be way fitter and healthier than you ever expected.
